Ford’s U.S. sales release provides both monthly and year-to-date context. The May comparison was positive, while the partial-year comparison was lower, so neither measure alone represents a full-year result.

Measure Period Ford-reported result
U.S. sales May 2025 11,298
U.S. sales May 2024 7,892
U.S. sales change May 2025 vs May 2024 43.2% increase
U.S. sales January–May 2025 35,896
U.S. sales January–May 2024 37,335
U.S. sales change January–May 2025 vs same 2024 period 3.9% decrease

Ford’s 2023 production record is a different series from retail sales. Ford reported 84,783 Expeditions produced in calendar 2023, with monthly output varying across the year.

2023 production period Expedition production
May 9,127 vehicles
June 6,285 vehicles
July 3,915 vehicles
August 9,539 vehicles
September 7,513 vehicles
October 3,138 vehicles
December 6,495 vehicles

Ford Expedition Engine, Power and Drivetrain Data

The official 2025 technical specifications list two 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 outputs. Both variants share several core technical measures, while the high-output version adds rated power and torque.

2025 engine measure Standard engine High-output engine
Displacement 3.5 liters 3.5 liters
Power 400 hp at 5,200 rpm 440 hp at 5,400 rpm
Torque 480 lb-ft at 3,300 rpm 510 lb-ft at 3,300 rpm
Compression ratio 10.5:1 10.5:1
Maximum boost pressure 20 psi 20 psi
Red line 6,500 rpm 6,500 rpm

The 2025 Expedition uses a 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford lists a 4.696:1 first-gear ratio and a 0.636:1 10th-gear ratio; these are gear ratios, not direct fuel-economy or speed measurements.

Ford Expedition Dimensions and Exterior Measurements

Wheelbase and length separate the standard-wheelbase Expedition from Expedition MAX, while several width and track measures are shared. The dimensions are manufacturer figures for the 2025 model year.

Exterior measure Standard wheelbase Expedition MAX
Wheelbase 122.5 in 131.5 in
Length 209.9 in 221.7 in
Maximum body width, mirrors excluded 80.0 in 80.0 in
Width including mirrors 94.6 in 94.6 in
Width with mirrors folded 84.6 in 84.6 in
Maximum height 78.1 in 78.0 in
Front track 68.1 in 68.1 in
Rear track 67.8 in 67.8 in

Approach angle is 21.1 degrees for the standard wheelbase and 21.5 degrees for MAX. These geometry measurements describe the manufacturer’s configuration; terrain, load and tire condition affect real-world clearance.

Ford Expedition Interior Space and Seating Statistics

Ford describes the 2025 Expedition as seating up to eight occupants, with capacity depending on the seating configuration. MAX adds passenger volume, but the listed headroom and legroom dimensions are the same in both wheelbases.

Interior measure Standard wheelbase Expedition MAX
Seating capacity Up to 8 occupants Up to 8 occupants
Passenger volume 171.8 cu ft 175.0 cu ft
First-row headroom, maximum 41.8 in 41.8 in
Second-row headroom 40.0 in 40.0 in
Third-row headroom 37.4 in 37.4 in
First-row legroom, maximum 43.9 in 43.9 in
Second-row legroom, seat full rearward 42.2 in 42.2 in
Third-row legroom 36.5 in 36.5 in

Third-row legroom reaches 43.5 inches when the second row is fully forward. That is not the normal second-row position, so it should not be read as the standard third-row legroom figure.

Ford Expedition Cargo, Weight and Towing Statistics

The MAX body provides more listed cargo volume in every reported seating configuration. Curb weight also varies by wheelbase and drivetrain, while towing depends on axle ratio, equipment, payload and combined-weight limits.

Cargo measure Standard wheelbase Expedition MAX
Behind first row 108.5 cu ft 123.1 cu ft
Behind second row 60.8 cu ft 75.4 cu ft
Behind upright third row 22.9 cu ft 37.4 cu ft

Configuration Base curb weight Maximum loaded trailer weight
Standard wheelbase 4×2 5,404 lb 6,000 lb with 3.31 axle
Standard wheelbase 4×4 5,668 lb 9,600 lb with 3.73 axle and 15,900-lb GCWR
MAX 4×2 5,542 lb 6,300 lb with 3.31 axle and 12,500-lb GCWR
MAX 4×4 5,794 lb 9,000 lb with 3.73 axle

Ford Expedition Wheels, Tires and Operating Measurements

Wheel and tire specifications vary by trim. The technical sheet lists 18-inch Active wheels, 22-inch King Ranch wheels and a largest available wheel size of 24 inches for a Platinum/Driver Pack configuration.

  • The standard Active tire is P265/70R18 all-terrain.
  • The standard Tremor tire is P275/70R18 all-terrain.
  • Minimum running ground clearance is 8.7 inches for the standard-wheelbase Expedition and 8.8 inches for MAX.
  • Rear overhang is 49.3 inches for the standard-wheelbase Expedition and 52.1 inches for MAX.
  • Ramp breakover angle is 19.3 degrees for the standard wheelbase and 18.3 degrees for MAX.

Ford’s 2025 towing guide limits trailer frontal area to 55 square feet without Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow and 60 square feet with that equipment. It also specifies trailer tongue load at 10% of total loaded trailer weight, subject to payload, GAWR, GVWR and GCWR limits.
