Ford E-Series Configuration and Dimension Data

The 2022 E-Series Cutaway range included seven listed wheelbase configurations: 138, 158 and 176 inches across E-350 and E-450, single-rear-wheel and dual-rear-wheel variants. Ford’s measurements apply to the chassis and cab; completed bodies can change final dimensions.

2022 Cutaway measure Ford-listed values Scope

Loaded overall height 80.0–80.4 inches Seven configurations
E-350 SRW overall width 79.4 inches Chassis/cab
Listed DRW overall width 94.9 inches E-350/E-450 DRW

The front track was 69.4 inches for every listed configuration. Rear track varied by running gear: 72.1 inches on E-350 SRW, 75.4 inches on listed E-350 DRW and 77.7 inches on E-450 DRW configurations.

Inside the 2022 Cutaway cab, Ford listed 42.0 inches of first-row headroom, 68.1 inches of shoulder room and 65.6 inches of hip room. These are first-row cab measurements, not measurements of a completed passenger, shuttle or recreational body.

Ford E-Series Weight, Payload and Towing Statistics

Weight capability depends on series, wheelbase, axle, equipment, cargo and completed-body loading. GVWR is a vehicle rating, payload selector values describe listed configurations, and GCWR combines the vehicle and trailer ratings in Ford’s towing selector.

2022 configuration or measure Rating Unit
E-350 SRW, 138-inch Cutaway GVWR 10,050 pounds
E-350 DRW, 138-inch Cutaway GVWR 11,500 pounds
E-350 DRW, 158-inch Cutaway GVWR 11,500 or 12,500 pounds
E-450 DRW, 158-inch Cutaway GVWR 14,000 pounds
E-450 DRW, 176-inch Cutaway GVWR 14,200 or 14,500 pounds
E-350 SRW, 138-inch payload selector 5,100 pounds
E-450 DRW, 176-inch payload selector 8,680 or 8,980 pounds

Ford’s 2022 towing selector listed 13,000 pounds GCWR for an E-350 SRW 138-inch Cutaway with the 7.3L V8 Economy engine and 4.10 axle. An E-450 DRW 158-inch Cutaway in a 7.3L V8 and 4.10 configuration was listed at 18,000 pounds GCWR.

For E-450 DRW Cutaways with the 7.3L V8 Premium, 4.56 axle and 14,200-pound GVWR, Ford listed 22,000 pounds GCWR at both 158- and 176-inch wheelbases. Ford also set the 2022 E-Series Cutaway trailer frontal-area consideration at 60 square feet for all applications.

The newer 2026 E-Series Cutaway commercial chassis page states up to 10,000 pounds of properly equipped towing capacity. That is a 2026 Ford Pro statement and should not be treated as interchangeable with every 2022 GCWR or completed-body configuration.

Ford E-Series Powertrain, Fuel and Ownership Measures

The 2022 E-Series used two listed calibrations of the 7.3L V8. Ford rated the premium version at 350 horsepower at 3,900 rpm and 468 lb-ft of torque at 3,900 rpm, while the economy version produced 300 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 425 lb-ft at 3,250 rpm.

Fuel capacity varied by series. Ford listed 40 gallons standard and 55 gallons optional for E-350, while E-450 was listed with 55 gallons standard and 40 gallons optional.

The 2022 Cutaway cab seated two occupants, with one optional seat. Ford’s listed warranty terms were three years or 36,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage, five years or 60,000 miles of powertrain coverage, and five years with unlimited miles of corrosion-perforation coverage.

Ford E-Series Recall Statistics and Affected Populations

NHTSA recall counts describe potential affected units within individual campaigns. They are not confirmed failures, total E-Series ownership, or a count of every E-Series vehicle on the road.

Campaign Covered population NHTSA estimate or scope
22V-384 2023 E-150, E-250, E-350 and E-450 5,247 vehicles potentially affected
11E-019 2009–2011 E-150/E-250/E-350 and 2011 E-450 with cited Roush propane kit 39 kits potentially affected
05E-021 Certain E-Series 6.0L diesel chassis air-conditioner bracket kits 839 kits potentially affected
20V-303 2020–2021 Thor motorhomes built on a Ford E-Series chassis 34 completed motorhomes potentially affected

Campaign 22V-384 concerned missing tire size, rim type and tire-pressure values for both axles, covering four label data elements or axle positions. The estimate was 5,247 potentially affected vehicles, not a finding that all units experienced a defect.

Campaign 11E-019 covered four E-Series applications or model-year groups with the cited aftermarket Roush propane kit, and NHTSA estimated 39 potentially affected kits. Campaign 05E-021 estimated 839 potentially affected air-conditioner bracket kits for certain E-Series 6.0L diesel chassis.

Finally, campaign 20V-303 covered 2020–2021 Thor motorhomes built on a Ford E-Series chassis, with NHTSA estimating 34 completed motorhomes potentially affected. These completed-vehicle and aftermarket-equipment notices illustrate why recall scope should be read by campaign, model year and vehicle application.
